Welcome to St. Locusta

St. Locusta; a town at the base of a gorgeous, snow capped, sleepy mountain that is home to skiing, premium wasteland vacations, and murder. This is the town we will find ourselves in for Deathcon 2027. St. Locusta has a few problems going on inside their borders. The first is that damn mountain that went up in flames. Glacier Peak has erupted into lava and ash. Every other village and town in the area has been swept away and decimated. Only St. Locusta remains, and even then, it did not escape mother nature's full wrath. Several important features of the town (like the morgue) have been encased in lava. The second, and arguably just as dangerous, part is the massive warband of burner Raider that have gathered outside of the town borders. All of this happened four days before the annual Lighting of the Peaks. A yearly Sainthood of Ashes ritual that has members scaling the mountain and lighting a bonfire atop the peak. Safe to say that no one will be doing that this year.

Not all is lost. The four major societies of the wastelands, The Wells Society, the Arbiters of the Bond, the Ossuary Society, and the Blacktide Hunters have gathered their forces to help in any way that they can. Each with their overt (and covert) objectives over the course of the weekend. In exchange for your help, they will be willing to give out their highly sought after society currency. For a lucky few that have truly embodied the core values of the society and can prove that they have done major work for their society, promotions are on the line.

While you are in town, there will be several sights to see and partake in throughout the weekend. For those survivors that enjoy the adrenaline of raider-focused combat, the Fissures will be your favorite spot. Located just outside of the wall that separates St. Locusta and Raiderville. This area will be headed by the Blaktide Hunters who will wage war against the Molten Tide clan of Burner Raiders.

For those looking for less of a fight and more adventure, the Magma Vents may taste a bit better for you. These are old Lascarian tunnels that have since been evacuated after the eruption. The Wells Society and Ossuary Society have vested interest in these tunnels for two very different reasons. The Wells Society sees the former home of the Mountain Breaker clan as a large learning opportunity. When else will we be able to learn about the ways of natural disasters such as this? The Ossuary Society seeks something else entirely. Since the local morgue was swallowed by a tide of lava, the Magma Vents have seen nearly all of the recently dead come back deep in its halls. The Ossuary Society is here to find out why.

If you are more of the science type of person, don’t worry, the Wells Society has lots to do topside. This includes conducting lots of science experiments while we are in the presence of the volcano. Most of these will be headed up in the Portable ‘Tucome Barkious Memorial’ Wells Society Science Center for Scientifically Minded Members of Society AKA: The Science zone. This is where players can crack open geodes found in the Magma Vents, dissect a Raider Corpse, or just start mixing chemicals together to see what they do.

If your character is a wandering lawman, the call for the Arbiters to gather in St. Locusta has gone out. Someone has invoked the bond. That someone has provided enough evidence to convince the Bondies that in the wake of the volcano erupting, a high-ranking member of Murder Incorporated is going to start a cell in the area. These ego maniacs cannot be allowed to gain a foothold here while the town is at its lowest. The Arbiters will investigate all they can and root out the corruption before it takes hold.

The locals of St. Locusta have not all evacuated the area. The local government is still around along with the owner of the local inn, and the local general store owner. These fine folk just love visitors in their town and are so happy to see so many people here to help them out in their time of need.

We have a lot to show you for Deathcon 27. We want everyone to ride all the attractions that they want, die screaming, and come back for seconds. More information on each of the main attractions for the event will come out soon in the Event blog posts.

See you all in April.
